Just as the world seemingly begins to lessen restrictions for what many hoped would be the first “normal” holiday season, Europe has found itself once again at the epicenter of the pandemic.

An increase in coronavirus cases across Europe has seen a slew of countries introduce additional measures to slow the spread of the virus.

On 15 November, a handful of popular European vacation destinations were added to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s highest warning level due to a spike of coronavirus cases.

Whilst the warnings don’t legally prevent travellers from heading to the destination, the update is bound to make some travellers hesitate to go against the CDC advisory.

The CDC, which updates the list on a weekly basis, classifies a destination as a “Level 4” if there are more than 500 COVID-19 cases recorded per 100,000 people over the last 28 days.

Iceland is a popular travel destination at this time of year due to the Northern Lights.

Prague and Budapest are also popular Christmas destinations.

Several other popular European countries have made the Level 4 list in recent weeks, including the Netherlands, Croatia, and Norway in recent weeks, including the Netherlands, Croatia, and Norway.
